Eoin’s 5 Bliss Commitments was a huge draw for me. Yoga is more than just the asana poses. Having time to dedicate to practising the commitments within the teacher training and practice them as group, rather than just sitting around and talking about them was powerful. We were given an opportunity to develop these commitments as a habit- appreciating nature and food, thinking about what we are grateful for. We learned not just how to be good yoga teachers, but how to be good people, good citizens.

I teach muscular anatomy to massage therapy students, so it was a relief that Eoin was able to teach this material accurately. He has deep anatomical knowledge. He has a background in science. He knows how the body works. One of my biggest concerns when it came to signing up for a yoga teacher training was the possibility that the teacher might not offer precise information. We are in the business of the body, and it is crucial that we know how it works in order to give proper instruction. When I understood that Eoin truly does know the body, I was able to trust in his ability to teach us to be good yoga teachers.

I had taken another yoga teacher training several years ago, which was a very cerebral, theoretical experience. We spent a lot of time learning about yoga, but not actually doing yoga. What I loved about Eoin’s training was that we were encouraged, from day one, to get hands on experience. Learning the ideal structure of poses, looking for the patterns in bodies, and then learning how to teach and adjust these poses in our students.

What we gained from Eoin’s Blissology teacher training, which we weren’t expecting, was a deep connection to one another. We have developed a kinship that has extended far beyond the training, and has encouraged us to form a community to support and celebrate one another. Eoin provided a learning environment that brought out the best in us as human beings. We were given permission to be authentic, to be vulnerable, to be raw and honest with ourselves and others. We don’t have to know all the answers, and we should continue to explore our curiosity and wonder as yoga teachers throughout our careers as Eoin has demonstrated. For Eoin, his message was clear and simple: yoga is about feeling better, and then spreading that bliss into the world. This is the true responsibility of a yoga teacher.
